RESEARCH...National and Client-focused

Human Capital -- The Packard Project (2001-2003), sponsored by the Drucker-Ito School of Management and School of Educational Studies at Claremont Graduate University.  Shaped by interviews with senior executives from Fortune 100 and 500 firms, research evidence drawn from over 500 studies, demonstrating that managing people as whole human capital practices enhances employee, customer and organizational performance.  The project was funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and resulted in the book (Leveraging the New Human Capital, Burud & Tumolo, Davies-Black Publishing, 2004) -- named 2004 Book of the Year by AHRD.

Corporate Research (1985-2005).  Applied research for corporate clients -- organizational assessments, strategy planning, benchmarking, cost analyses, return-on-investment analyses, and feasbility studies using such techniques as surveys, focus groups, and leadership interviews. (See "Consultation")

The National Employer-Supported Child Care Project (1981-1984), funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  This national study identified a new trend in employee benefits -- dependent care -- and assessed the return on investment to employers.  The resulting book was Employer-Supported Child Care: Investing In Human Resources (Burud, Aschbacher and McCroskey, 1984).
